If you read my recent post about my eczema then you’ll know that now the colder months have officially arrived, so has my eczema. One of the places that I get my eczema is my face and it can be pretty hard to cover when I’m in the midst of a flare-up. Foundation doesn’t quite do it so when I was given the opportunity to try out Keromask’s full coverage make-up, I knew I had to take up the offer.

Keromask specialises in camouflage makeup and is designed to disguise all skin imperfections, including: acne, vitiligo, rosacea, scars, stretch marks, under-eye dark circles and unwanted tattoos.

I ordered the Translucent Mineral Rich Loose Finishing Powder which is designed to set the foundation and help keep it waterproof as well as prepare the skin for additional products to be applied, e.g. eye shadows and blushers. I’ve used loads of finishing powders over the year and when I put applied this product, I have to admit I wasn’t a huge fan of the formula. It didn’t leave me with the smooth feeling that setting powders usually do. However, there’s no denying that it works, and it works well.

Now, onto the products that you all want to hear about; the Camouflage Creams. I chose a couple of shades as well as a white mixer so that I could make sure I have the right tone to last me all winter…even during prime pale time! With this cream, a little goes a long way so although the tube seems small, it’ll last for ages.

The creams cover eczema amazingly and don’t even leave a trace that it’s there. In fact, I kind of wish I had a tattoo just so that I could test it because I’ve been genuinely impressed.

Have you used camouflage makeup before? What are your thoughts?

I recently discovered Soy wax candles. I actually found out about these candles when looking at houses and the owner told me the possible dangers of normal wax candles and the chemicals they produce. To be honest, I haven’t yet taken the time to sit down and fully research this, however, I have taken the time to find out more about Soy wax candles. Additionally, I am still using normal wax candles I am just more aware of the different types.

As part of this journey, I have discovered a few different brands of candles and have even made some Soy wax candles of my own. One of these brands is Imogen’s LuxuriesI discovered Imogen’s Luxuries at a recent charity fair and the amazing sell of the reed diffusers and Soy wax candles instantly attracted me to the stall, and you know that I’m a sucker for a nice candle!

Imogen’s Luxuries had an amazing selection of different scents and it took me ages to decide on the product I wanted. But, in true autumn blogger style, I went for Apple Spice. I wish that our technology was so developed that you could smell the candle through your phone, laptop, or whatever device you’re reading this on because I kid you not, this is probably one of the nicest scents I’ve ever had in a candle. The scent automatically makes me feel cosy and I only need to have burnt the candle for 10 minutes or so for the smell to fill my entire home, and last for the next couple of hours.

Can we also talk about Imogen’s Luxuries’ packaging? It is so beautiful. It’s simple but completely catches your eye and because of the neutral colours is suitable for any room in the home. 1 Soy wax candles 2 Soy wax candles 3 Soy wax candles 4

If you read my recent Blogtober blog swap then you’ll know that I am a huge Halloween fan. Although I’m a total wimp when it comes to anything scary, I still love to celebrate so I thought I’d share the top five things to do in and around Essex this Halloween.

  1. Scaresville – Scaresville is a haunted village which mysteriously appears in the grounds of Kentwell Hall in Suffolk every autumn. It is one of Britain’s top scare attractions. There’s no venue like Scaresville and no comparable range of scares as to be encountered at Scaresville, a previous winner of a prestigious Screamie Award.”
  2. Cursed – ” With only adrenaline, and your so called friends by your side, prepare to meet some of the most evil creatures around, as you join the revolt, at the largest fright night experience in Essex. Cursed is Essex’s No. 1 Award-winning Halloween fright night experience, set in the eerie grounds of Wat Tyler Country Park, near Basildon. During the evening, you will pass through a series of scare mazes which are themed to disturb, distort and scare the living daylights out of you.”
  3. Pumpkin Patch – “We’ve been growing and harvesting pumpkins for years now and then one day we thought… why not open the farm up and let our customers pick their own perfect pumpkin directly from the field! So that is what we did and you loved it!  So why not join in the fun – all you need to do is put on your wellies and bring the whole family to the patch where you can walk through the mud and pick your very own pumpkin!”
  4. The Seance – “Brand New Attraction for 2017, The Seance – it is the UK’s First Panic Room Experience. It is a one-of-a-kind Scare Attraction where we challenge YOU to last the full duration without hitting the panic button! Open Year-Round, with extended opening hours during Halloween… it is located in the heart of Southend-on-Sea, Essex.”
  5. Ghost Walk, Hangmans Hill – “Previous guests during this bone chilling ghost walk, have reported being pushed, touched and have a feeling of being followed by unseen Spirits. Join us on the ghostly walk that is Hangman’s Hill – take part in a series of ghostly walks, tales and local legends. During the walk you will take in several stops to hear tales of ghosts, hauntings, local history and murder. This is then followed by a stop nearby the eerie cemetery and an area that was once the site of a grand house, said to be still haunted by the family and staff that once lived there. You will be taken on a walk through the woods to carry out a seance during which our Medium will then attempt to contact the spirits and energies of any ghosts that may be present. As the evening continues you will hear many other tales that include sightings of a troubled spirit who runs in front of passing cars glaring into the eyes of drivers before disappearing, the ghost of a dead girl who is said to have drowned near the Kings Oak Pub, the penny farthing ghost, a headless horsemen and much much more… “

Are you brave enough for any of this? How will you be spending Halloween?

Is it just me or is finding the perfect foundation the hardest task ever? I have tried so many foundations over the year, I’ve fallen in love with many and I’ve fallen out of love with many too.

When I’ve found a product I love the formula either changes, it gets discontinued or my skin just decides to throw a tantrum and decide it’s no longer compatible with the foundation. The latter is what happened recently so off I went again, on the hunt for the perfect foundation.

I had heard sooo many amazing things about the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation but had never got round to trying it…until now!

I always go for medium coverage which is buildable for day or night which is something that attracted me to this foundation. That, and the fact that it claims to have a 24-hour lasting power.

It’s been two months since I’ve been using the Double Wear foundation now and I’m still yet to decide if it’s going to be my forever foundation but my feelings have definitely been positive. When Estee Lauder claimed that the Double Wear had the power to last 24 hours, they weren’t kidding. You know when you get to the end of a long day and remove your make-up and the foundation is pretty much non-existent? It’s the opposite with this product. In fact, I’m pretty sure there’s still as much left on as when I put it on that morning.

Another thing that I love is that a little really does go a long way. I don’t like heavy coverage with my make-up, it just doesn’t suit me, and at first I just couldn’t get on with this foundation as it seemed so heavy. It turns out, I was just putting too much on. I know, I know, you’re wondering how I didn’t realise sooner? I was literally putting on a normal amount but as soon as I reduced this it was the perfect finish.

The only small downside to this foundation is that it can leave my skin feeling quite dry so moisturising before you put it on is so important. I think the reason it feels so dry is because it is designed to last a long time and therefore needs to be. To me, this is a small price to pay for a long lasting foundation!

The cold weather is officially here which of course means, so is my eczema…yay (not). I’ve had eczema ever since I was born and it is something that I’ve struggled with year after year.

Over the years I’ve tried hundreds of different creams and treatments, and I’m not even exaggerating. I get eczema over the majority of my body with the worst being on my hands, arms, and forehead…the only places you see come winter!

Despite all of the different creams, both prescription and over the counter, as well as natural remedies I’ve not yet found a cream that doesn’t contain steroids and has worked. Unfortunately, although steroid cream helps best, there are lots of reasons why steroid cream isn’t so great including the fact it thins out your skin and can damage it further.

This is why when Dermalex got in touch and offered me the chance to review their steroid-free treatment I was really keen to do so. In all honesty, I didn’t really expect to see any results but I’ve gotten to the stage when there’s no harm in trying!

I’ve been using the Dermalex eczema treatment night and day for four weeks now and started using it at the first sign of eczema with the hope of getting to it before it got worse.

And the results are in *drumroll*…There has been a big change in my eczema compared to how it normally progresses each year. Don’t get me wrong, this treatment hasn’t changed my life as such and hasn’t completely cleared up my eczema. However, it’s definitely an improvement compared to previous years. Dermalex is working to help people manage their skin conditions, they don’t promise an overnight miracle cure and this is exactly what this treatment is doing. It’s helping me to manage my skin condition and hopefully will continue to help across winter.
