CTZN’s new pizza menu

Back in September we headed over to CTZN in Chelmsford to try out their food offering. You may remember from my previous post that I previously hadn’t even realised that CTZN offered food and had been blown away by the amazing food. So, when CTZN got in touch to let me know about their new pizza menu and invited me along to try it, of course I couldn’t turn it down.

We started with cocktails, when in Rome n’ all that, and I went for the Pornstar martini. I know, I know obvious choice considering it’s the cocktail I drink anywhere and everywhere I go. They’re just so damn tasty!

For starters both of us went for garlic bread. If I’m honest we probably could have shared one between the two of us because for starters, they were very big portions. But, I’d be lying if my greedy side wasn’t glad we ordered two because it was amazing. It had just the right amount of garlic on and was perfectly cooked. Unlike a lot of garlic bed it wasn’t at all dry or overdone. This made me look forward to the pizza even more.

Being the boring Betty that I am, I went for the Rustic Classic; a rustic combination of tangy Barrel & Stone tomato sauce and creamy Fior di Latte mozzarella. For me, the tomato sauce on a pizza base makes all of the difference. You could have the world’s best toppings on a pizza but if the sauce isn’t right, the pizza just doesn’t work. Luckily for me, this Barrel & Stone tomato sauce was a winner and full of flavour. The base was really doughy which for me, is great as I don’t like when a pizza base is too crispy. Overall, the pizza was amazing.

Liam went for The Works pizza; Smoked speck ham, cured Italian Napoli salami, fennel sausage, Barrel & Stone tomato sauce and Fior di Latte mozzarella. He’s far more adventurous than me. In his own words “This is so good, it’s got a proper kick to it and a bit of spice” – in case you hadn’t worked it out…we’re based down in Essex!
