I very kindly received this shampoo to review last week and I have been testing it out over the following days. I’ve always loved John Frieda shampoos and used the Brunette one for years – it has the nicest scent. I always tend to go for volumising shampoos as I have fine hair that can end up very fly-away straight after washing and I need something that will give me texture, enabling me to easily style my hair,

This product is from the new John Frieda Full Repair range:

Full Repair™ Hair Care products weightlessly reverse the look and feel of damage from styling. Ideal for
show-stopping, full-bodied, red-carpet ready styles.

What do I look for in a shampoo?

Number one I look for a shampoo that is cleansing without stripping my hair of colour and moisture, I always use a volumising, texturising cream before blow drying and dry shampoo and hairspray during the following days. This means that I need a shampoo that effectively cleanses or else I’ll end up with dreading product build up giving dull, greasy hair…eugh.

This shampoo is a cream formula, lathers (very) well, has a nice clean scent and leave my hair cleansed and just on the right side of dry to allow for styling straight after washing.

I would definitely recommend that if you use a lot of products in your hair as part of your daily routine then consider shampooing your hair twice as it can make a huge difference. There’s a reason why they shampoo twice in salons and therefore why your hair feels so great afterwards! If your hair is very dry however, I would either avoid the second shampoo or use a really good conditioner or even better a leave in conditioner.

One of the biggest issues that women with fine hair face is striking the balance between volumsing your hair without neglecting the moisture element of your hair care routine. This shampoo helps to volumise and repair hair by keeping it moisturised and leaving it feeling nourished.

*I received this sample to review

I really enjoyed writing the last post which focused on designer fashion; a substantial move away from my usual cosmetics that come in under £30 most of the time! I have an inbuilt interest in fashion, not because I feel I have any great talent at it or that I have a fabulous wardrobe that warrants much attention or admiration. I like writing and reading about fashion for the same reasons I love make up so much, mainly the ability to transform. Not just the way you look on the outside but who you feel too.

It sounds awfully self-centred to base the whole outlook and attitude towards your day on how you look…but that is generally how I feel and I know I’m not the only one. If you leave in a rush you haven’t had time to wash your hair, pick out a flattering outfit or spend as much time on you make up then personally it would set the tone for my day, rightly or wrongly. If I leave feeling confident and comfortable in what I’m wearing, I like my hair and makeup then I automatically have a more positive and jovial attitude towards my day.

There is also nothing better than getting your hands finally on something you have been lusting after for a long time especially in my case shoes and coats. I love them! As of yet I have not had the pleasure of walking out in a pair of designer shoes that I have lusted after but hey, there’s still plenty time. Oh imagine it…

Referring back to the title of this post I thought I would include a focus on a particular designer which I feel is edgy, designer and wearable which is not always the case. Isabel Marant who began as an accessories designer in the late eighties, releasing her full ready to wear collection just five years later. Now an established fashion house clothing some of the biggest names including: Kirsten Dunst, Rosie Huntington-Whitely and Rachael Bilson (my favourite!).

Isabel Marant is known as an edgy, indie and now cult status brand known for her ever so cool slouchy knits and strong patterns off set with sharp tailoring and accessories.

I picked a few of my favourite pieces that I would just love to get my hands on.

Evening! How are we all tonight? I wanted to post tonight but as I haven’t taken any of the pictures I wanted and it’s dark so a question tag it is. I have to admit that I wasn’t tagged but I thought what the heck I’ll just join in anyway. I originally found this tag post on Zoella’s blog so without further ado here we go.

What is your current fashion obsession? -

My current fashion obsession hmmm am I allowed to include shoes I an obsessed with my new little desert pixi style boots which are a light fawn suede, so not suitable for this weather but I love them. I’m also loving big bags and miss matched stud earrings.

What is your current makeup obsession? -

My current make up obsession is without doubt my new elf studio stippling brush. Previous to owning this brush I was becoming increasingly annoyed with how my blusher was applying it just wasn’t right, after becoming acquainted with this baby all my frustrations have evaporated. I love this brush for picking up exactly the right amount of colour and for perfect blending.

What are you wearing today? -

Today I had on opaque tights, black bandage skirt, Eiffel tower t shirt and a floaty one with birds on layered over that. Think they’re parrots actually with new boots, bag and mac.

Hair? -

Straight but messy, slight fringe quiff pinned back muti-tones of dark brown.

Do you nap a lot? -

I’m not a big napper no, always feel they make me more tired or I sleep way over the nap threshold time!

Why is today special? -

Today was special for me because I was given a gorgeous bottle of champagne by my work colleagues, LOVE it!

What would you like to learn to do?

I would love to learn to speak fluent French, to wallpaper and to cut hair…

What’s for dinner today? -

Today I was starving and deviated from my diet, I may of had a chicken burger and oven chips eeeek!

What are you listening to right now? -

Nothing at this present moment but I have been surrounded by Adele’s Brit performance which is awesome.

What is your favorite weather? -

My favourite weather is definitely warm balmy summer evenings about half six seven, bliss.

What’s the last thing you bought? -

The last thing I bought was an uber tacky leopard print iPhone cover (I like it oh and some equally gaudy pink skull headphones.

What are your essentials when traveling? -

Absolute essentials face wipes, deodorant, hair bobble and cash. Unless you are in the middle of nowhere you can hopefully buy most things you could of possibly forgotten to pack.

What’s your style?-

My style is floaty and layered with a neutral colour scheme. Wannabe Parisian sophisticate.

What is your most challenging goal right now? -

My most challenging goal is saving enough money to furnish a new flat! Oh and becoming a proper grown up!

What do you think about the person who tagged you? -

I wasn’t tagged I’m just putting in my ten cents woo!

If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?

It would be a massive town house in manhattan.

Favorite vacation spot? - Ibiza…

Afternoon my very first nail of the day….I am beyond excited. Apologies for the rather sedate choice of shade for today but it’s my new polish and I love it. It’s for 17′s new spring time collection and it’s called Forever and it’s part of the lasting finish collection; the picture is pretty true to life although it’s a bit more pink in daylight.

Here is a quick little run down of my manicure routine if any of you are even the remotest bit interested! I remove my old polish as I NEVER don’t have my nails painted; I was using these crappy little pre-soaked remover pads which are really greasy and oily definitely need to wash your hands after using them. In fact that reminds me I really need suggestions of an effective yet gentle nail polish remover? One that is non-drying and nourishing to your nails does such a product exist?

Then I may stick on some hand cream just general Vaseline because it’s really light and quickly absorbed. I then put on my cucumber cuticle oil I HATE unruly scabby cuticles, mine were giving me some gip but I’ve knocked them into shape. This cuticle oil is just a cheapy one from Salon Services but it’s effective and quickly absorbed which is essential if you are painting your nails straight afterwards. While the cuticle oil is still there I use an orange stick to push them back and batter them into shape. I might wait a bit for all this to be soaked in and make my nails all luscious and beautiful. THEN I paint them, when I have finished the second coat on both hands today I applied Seche Vite which gives a beautifully glossy smooth finish. Without further ado as I am sure you are all on tenterhooks here is the picture.

Happy Shrove Tuesday everyone! Also known more commonly as pancake day which my sister kindly explained to me (she understood) the meaning of this day to be when people used up all of the yummy things they had in their cupboards before lent. Seems plausible….

I thought I better add some words to this rather image heavy post with regards to my little impulse buy from 17 yesterday, I was interested in the limited edition spring palettes but The Boots I was in is rather small. The nail polish I picked up is from the new collection and how nice is it and guess what it’s a neutral. I’m just this very minute going to give myself a mini manicure and I’ll post a nail of the day; although it is soooo dull here today I’m afraid my pictures won’t turn out too well.

What else do we have as I previously mentioned they do have a buy three for two offer on and I got all three products for roughly £7.50 and I have to say that the quality of this brand is good. The eyeshadow single in statuesque is buttery, pigmented and a lovely formulation; quite hard to describe in terms of shade but it’s a warm, pinky taupe with a subtle shmmer through it nice as an all over lid colour.

Idon’t think I would head to 17 for what I call my make up staples namely foundation, concealer or mascara but for shadows and polishes it’s great value for money and had a wide rang of colours for reasonable prices.

Another neutral but a sightly more warm shade,we shall have to see when I apply it and I can give my full opinion. They also had a pale lilac but I have a China Glaze colour which is exactly the same (should I go and get it and tell you the shade?). This is a lasting fix formulation which professes to last for UP TO five days chip free colour which is a rather redundant statement when you think about it but I’ll reserve opinion and I’ll report back when the first chips appear.

The lipgloss I picked up in peach melba is GEOrgeous I love it more pink/red than peach but with a definite warm orangey glow. I have purchased quite a few liplosses from the ultimate volume range from 17 and these are lovely in terms of texture they are in no way sticky, rather quite moisturising and thick (in a nice way) in consistency, quite good staying power and pigmentation. The only reservation I have about this product is perhaps owing to the thicker consistency of this gloss it’s a little harder to get enough out of the tube onto the applicator in the first instance so you may have to put on a few coats! All in all a good lipgloss and a nice flattering spring apt shade.

Here’s the obligatory swatches excuse my rather palid hand but I just can’t help it! St Tropez has worn off and I’m being lazy….
