Blogging from my iPhone now this is a novelty imagine the possibilities imagine how good my life would be if I only had an iPad 2. Now Lissa don’t upset yourself your meant to be saving! Anyway just a rather self indulgent post to try out my new app; I’m off to work on a new little feature that I have been inspired to do by the wonderful Nylon blog….
Have a strawberry gin mojito on me it is the weekend after all!
I just had to do a little post on Essie’s new nail trend collection for spring 2011 as it is utterly gorgeous and covetable each and every one of them here’s the branding…
Here’s a little run down of the new shades.
French Affair

A super flattering sugary lilac suitable for everyone on short or longer nails.
Coat Azure
This shade is quite unusua as it is neither a pastel or a dark blue but a medium shade shot through with a subtle shimmer.
Sand Tropez
This is the shade that I have purchased from the collection I love it my absolute favouite shades I don’t know how many beiges and greiges I have, this one is a soft sandy beige perfect for spring.
Nice is Nice
Unlike French Affair this is a lavendar but with blue undertones instead of the more sugary pink lavendar, perfect for more formal occassions work etc…
Topless and Barefoot
This one I also love Essie describe this as being a barely there soft beige pink perfect for when you want to look groomed but not draw attention as such to your nails. Lurverly.
Kisses & Bises
This shade is really exciting it’s a soft irridescent pink which Essie recommend layering over almost any shade to add an extra dimension. I can envisage this on toes over a pastel polish and sandals. Roll on summer!
There you go what do you think is Essie’s new spring collection? Will you be purchasing anything from it? I’ve got my sights set on Nice is Nice I think..

Just a quick little snippet of a post to let you lovely readers know what beauty escapades I have been up to in the past week or so. Last week after a particularly, shall we say testing week I decided to treat myself retail is my therapy of choice. I used the online service I Need An Appointment INNA which allows you to search in your local area for appointments and book them online; it’s really handy. I love getting my nails done and having my nails done, I generally do it myself as my nails grow pretty quickly and are in pretty good condition strength wise. Anyway I decided to treat myself to acrylics.
So off I toddled up to POUT in Glasgow’s shall we say less glamorous East end up the Gallowgate I went sneakily peeping at my iphone (if you know Glasgow’s east end you’ll know what I’m talking about). I finally got there after a mile long walk which I strangely enjoyed, I was greeted by a rather arresting owner; I’m talking platforms, lace see through top, blonde very long extensions, a sepia tan and a generous smattering of eyelashes. “Hi I’m booked in for acrylics.”
A couple of weeks earlier I had got a french perma polish perma being the operative word as it was refusing to come off, cue ten minutes with my hands in a bowl of remover getting slowly sozzled off the fumes. Off we went buffing and sticking and cutting and filing and shaping and geling and UVing and we were all set. Before I went in I decided now Lisa….go for a sensible length you work at a computer have a touch screen phone etc… That kind of fell by the way side as I have a soft spot for long nails, they’re just more feminine aren’t they? Here’s the finished articles:
I was very happy with the finished product and for the grand total of £15 I think it was a bit of a bargain and I’d definitely get them done again although I’ll probably give them a break once these are off; probably try Minx nails next. They are so exciting you should check them out if you don’t know what they are.
My name is Lisa and I am a denim nut.
There I said it I love jeans, there is nothing like a well fitting flattering pair of denims to make you feel like strutting your stuff all ova Town, hmmmm hm. Sorry. Anyway you now what I mean a good pair of jeans is essential in any woman’s wardrobe, it you don’t wear jeans then get outta town. All my life I have been a denim devotee, baggy ones, bootleg ones, straight legs ones, skinny ones, shorts and skirts you name it I’ve got it. Now my tastes are fickle and I change them as and when I see fit because it’s a woman’s prerogative to change their mind (wow for the feminists, not!). once upon a time I would of worn a bootleg jean now there is 89% no way I will wear bootleg jeans, just cause.
In fact now that I have started lets have a run down of my denim no goes, see if there is any you agree with.
- Bootleg jeans
- Jeans with and sort of diamante on them
- Three quarter length
- Very light stone wash
- Likewise brilliant matt blue jeans (teacher on a school outing stylee)
- Unflattering high wasted jeans (we’re talking camel territory here)
- Long or midi denim skirts, in fact I don’t think I would wear any denim skirts these days (Just cause I’m getting on a bit, well 24)
I think we’ll leave it there because there are just so many things I do like. My ideal jeans are a medium to dark blue wash, skinny so tight around the ankles, quite large plain back pockets (you now what I’m talking about!) and not high waisted but not quite hipster and of a nice textured denim (not too stretchy not too sturdy). Now I’m not asking for much!
Fear not my friends because I have happened upon a pair of such described, coveted denim for……………….£20. I love my new pair of jean genies because they were just so damn reasonable in price. A new online store I have just recently rediscovered again is Awear they have an excellent selection of womens jeans for your delectation. Here’s a little pic of my new pair…
Just a little quick post on my beauty escapades this week and last week. Following on from my less than positive first impressions of the Maybelline 24 hour colour stay, I have to confess that it is now on Ebay. (Potential buyers, it really is a most excellent product!) Foundation is such an intergral part of one’s beauty routine that it is futile to struggle on with a product that is just not for you. Good bye Maybelline and hello Revlon Colourstay the much hyped and raved about among the beauty community the holy grail of middle end full coverage foundations is now in my possession. I will do a full review later on in the week but first impressions are very good. Full coverage without feeling heavy on the skin, I did have one little indiscretion arise in the form of a blemish but I think that may have been the Sauvignon Blanc and not the foundation!
Just though I would add in here some up and coming products I have to blog about in the coming weeks:
-
- Revlon Colourstay Foundation
- Permapolish french manicure
- China Glaze nail polishes
- Sleek ink pot gel liner
- Eyeko polish and grafitti eyeliner
Oh and the most beautiful dress I got for £13!!! I was over the freakin moon about that picture to follow…
