Evening! How are we all tonight? I wanted to post tonight but as I haven’t taken any of the pictures I wanted and it’s dark so a question tag it is. I have to admit that I wasn’t tagged but I thought what the heck I’ll just join in anyway. I originally found this tag post on Zoella’s blog so without further ado here we go.

What is your current fashion obsession? -

My current fashion obsession hmmm am I allowed to include shoes I an obsessed with my new little desert pixi style boots which are a light fawn suede, so not suitable for this weather but I love them. I’m also loving big bags and miss matched stud earrings.

What is your current makeup obsession? -

My current make up obsession is without doubt my new elf studio stippling brush. Previous to owning this brush I was becoming increasingly annoyed with how my blusher was applying it just wasn’t right, after becoming acquainted with this baby all my frustrations have evaporated. I love this brush for picking up exactly the right amount of colour and for perfect blending.

The last thing I bought was an uber tacky leopard print iPhone cover (I like it :) oh and some equally gaudy pink skull headphones.

Jean Genie

November 9, 2010 |  by Lissa  |  Features, Looks, News  |  1 Comment  |  Share

My name is Lisa and I am a denim nut.

There I said it I love jeans, there is nothing like a well fitting flattering pair of denims to make you feel like strutting your stuff all ova Town, hmmmm hm.  Sorry.  Anyway you now what I mean a good pair of jeans is essential in any woman’s wardrobe, it you don’t wear jeans then get outta town.  All my life I have been a denim devotee, baggy ones, bootleg ones, straight legs ones, skinny ones, shorts and skirts you name it I’ve got it.  Now my tastes are fickle and I change them as and when I see fit because it’s a woman’s prerogative to change their mind (wow for the feminists, not!).  once upon a time I would of worn a bootleg jean now there is 89% no way I will wear bootleg jeans, just cause.

In fact now that I have started lets have a run down of my denim no goes, see if there is any you agree with.

  • Bootleg jeans
  • Jeans with and sort of diamante on them
  • Three quarter length
  • Very light stone wash
  • Likewise brilliant matt blue jeans (teacher on a school outing stylee)
  • Unflattering high wasted jeans (we’re talking camel territory here)
  • Long or midi denim skirts, in fact I don’t think I would wear any denim skirts these days (Just cause I’m getting on a bit, well 24)

I think we’ll leave it there because there are just so many things I do like.  My ideal jeans are a medium to dark blue wash, skinny so tight around the ankles, quite large plain back pockets (you now what I’m talking about!) and not high waisted but not quite hipster and of a nice textured denim (not too stretchy not too sturdy).  Now I’m not asking for much!

Fear not my friends because I have happened upon a pair of such described, coveted denim for……………….£20.  I love my new pair of jean genies because they were just so damn reasonable in price. A new online store I have just recently rediscovered again is Awear they have an excellent selection of womens jeans for your delectation.   Here’s a little pic of my new pair…

Christmas Party Dresses…

November 5, 2010 |  by Lissa  |  Features, Looks  |  No Comments  |  Share

“It’s that time of year again, lots of presents, lots of fun lalalalalalalalalaaaaaaaaaa”

Well maybe not but the festive season is creeping up on us ready to delight and to bring much damage to one’s bank balance.  Organisation anyone?  Nah, that’s boring isn’t it, how many times have we said, “Right, I’m going to be ready this year.”  I’m talking lists, saving and spreading the cost, how about a mad last minute dash?

Forgetting all that what’s the most important or rather best part of Christmas?   Party dresses of course!  When else is it acceptable to adorn oneself in diamante galore and perhaps if your boyfriends not looking the fabulously tacky faux fur coat, you know what I’m talking about!  Usually you would not get me within a hundred foot of anything with a remotely sparkly nature, no diamante jewellery; sparkly is a no go for me.  BUT, the festive time is somewhat of an exception to my aversion to the glittery side of life, I allow an indulgence in a bit of glitz.

This brings me to one of my purchases of the recent weeks my sparkly, in fact very sparkly cream body con dress from my new favourite.  I absolutely adore this dress, it was in expensive is flattering and totally ideal for nights out and functions around this time of year.  Now you did hear me correctly I did say body con as this is indeed a slinky number but with the assistance of some ‘shape control’ (read belly busting) underwear, we are all set to go.

My advice for choosing your perfect party dress for this festive season is to try TRY and find something you are relatively comfortable in.  Now I don’t mean completely substitute substance for style but don’t buy something you are going to be fretting in all night, or yanking up or down all night; remember you want to have fun.

Plus I just had to add this in here, yesterday I found out about the existence of Swarovski toes a pedicure that covers your toes in Swarovski crystals, eh yes please?! Go just great with my favourite new peep toes platform wedge shoe boots!

Winter Skin Care

September 16, 2010 |  by Lissa  |  Features  |  2 Comments  |  Share

As I am sure you are all aware there is most definitely a change in the air, some may say a welcome one others may be online as we speak researching cheap Tenerife holidays, dreaming of a winter spent in sunnier climes.  Whatever your attitude to the colder seasons are we all know that skin care is important whatever the weather; in my particular case I would say even more so in the autumn/winter.  For a few reasons firstly it’s colder I find the harsher temperatures so drying on my skin (I have dry skin any way with a sometimes hint of combination thrown in) and secondly in the winter well I personally wear more make up to compensate for the pasty complexion the lack of sunlight does to ones skin.  In the ever vain attempt to recreate a healthy summer glow results a much more heavier hand in the application of foundation, bronzer and highlighter.  As a result of this it becomes ever more apparent that cleansing is extremely important to remove all make up and prevent breakouts.

I am going to share my  skin care routine for the winter, I know skin care can sometimes be a pain in the you know what and an expensive one at that but it is so important.  First and most crucial step cleansing; in a previous post I have reviewed this product and I still love it.  Most mornings I use the Sanctuary Hot Polish Cleanser which I believe to be a dupe of the Liz Earle.  I love it, it feels very soothing and leaves your skin feeling super cleansed AND moisturised AND smooth as a result of the muslin cloth.
